About the author

Dr Robert Docters Van Leeuwen

The author, Dr Robert Docters van Leeuwen, graduated in chemistry Cum Laude and attained a PhD in social sciences. He has a keen interest in yoga, psychology, information theory, astronomy, Zen, metaphysics, the I Ching, Tarot and history. For decennia, he researched links between mind, spirit and matter as they present themselves in synchronicities, intuition, and in I Ching, Tarot, and Celtic-Runic consultations.

Focused on understanding consciousness he studied psychologists, philosophers and metaphysicists such as Bucke, Jung, Maslow, Sheldrake, Dabrowski, Wilber, Grof, Goswami, Gebser, Bohm and Peat. He combined this research with the correlation of the archetypes in the I Ching, Tarot and Celtic Trees. Led by Zen insights, the Vedas, Quantum Physics, Holography, Implicate and Explicate Order theory, Akashic Field theory and Enlightenment records, he combined the mind’s movements between levels of consciousness into an overarching, psycho-dynamic consciousness model.

Having already written many books Rob decided to share his insights in a three-part novel. The story is set in Vancouver where he had the opportunity to live and work by means of a Canada Council Fellowship. It follows a female psychologist who after surviving a disastrous car accident strives to climb out of her deep pit of sorrows. Supported by helpers, Zen meditation, study and music, she gradually comes to an understanding of why this accident had to become part of her life. Persistent willpower drives her to deal with her situation and she has an Enlightenment experience. Grasping opportunities as they appear she is able to create a promising new life.

ABOUT HIS COLLABORATOR

Rae Morrison Baba

At its core, the relationship of Rob and Rae is the meeting of like minds, and the foundation for them both needing and being able to effectively work together.

They met many years ago through a mutual friend who invited each of them to join him in a regular monthly no-holds-barred discussion group. The outcome of these regular deep discussions made it crystal clear to them the deep alignment of their spiritual interests. During this time Rob had a life-threatening cycling accident and ensuing Near Death Experience.

Rae visited him in the hospital and learnt that as a consequence of this near-death experience, he was committed to writing a book subtitled Consciousness Arising. Despite many enormous challenges on the way, which had the potential to derail this project, Rob never wavered in his commitment to his task and Rae never wavered in her commitment to supporting him in his work.

This book - in three volumes - is Rob’s book, but at the same time, it is Rob and Rae’s, child. Like loving parents, they care for it equally and deeply and are totally dedicated to it. Rae’s experiences living in Japan have had an influence on aspects of the story, and her extensive library has been invaluable in providing Rob with the references he needs.

Rob’s scientific, psychological, philosophical and metaphysical knowledge has helped deepen Rae’s understanding and creative insights which she has used to contribute to his work. Through their deep mutual respect and love, they trust that they have been able to bring their best to this work.
